SITUATION
Kathy Klotz-Guest had a successful practice as a marketing and innovation consultant, injecting humor into her work over the years under the moniker “Powerfully Funny.” Kathy wanted to bring her offerings – internal and the external – together under one brand: A broader platform that would honor her improvisation / humor work as well as her reputation as a strategic marketer.
CHALLENGE
All of Kathy’s materials had to make business sense to her clients and prospects – strategic and smart as well as fun and innovative.
While some clients wanted the fun, others didn't. All of it needed to work.
SOLUTION
The advantage of working with a marketer like Kathy was that the solution was truly a collaborative effort. The Hayden Group worked with Kathy to develop a unique positioning –keeping it human: putting people first to build marketing value– that pulled all of her offerings together and echoed Kathy’s work on bringing humanity to innovation and marketing. Kathy wrote all of the content and test-drove it to get feedback along the way. Ellen Rudy and Dan McKee created a fresh image for the new brand and designed Kathy’s new website, renaming some of the offerings, and supporting her story with photos and visual “sound bytes.” We worked together on a new flow diagram outlining Kathy’s approach to all stages of the marketing cycle. We also made sure that the legacy of Powerfully Funny was addressed, and maintained links to her old site and blog for the transition.
