The Hayden Group: Strategic Marketing & Creative Services

AT THE NEXT SYNERGOS...

On August 26th, our topic is Quality, Arrogance, or Japan Bashing? What Toyota tells us about sustaining success in global markets with  Stanford Professor, Richard Dasher. For years, Toyota represented the epitome of excellence in global business:  hitting world markets with exactly the right products, actively exercising corporate social responsibility, and achieving a stable reputation as a world leader in quality, safety, and reliability.  Then the accelerator pedal started to stick.  This talk will examine the background of the quality crisis faced by Toyota, the company's response, and what this incident tells us about current public attitudes toward business globalization.  How does the Toyota situation compare with Apple's recent troubles (call-dropping iPhones and overheating iPads)?
Richard B. Dasher, PhD, of Stanford University, directs two externally funded research centers in Stanford University’s School of Engineering:  the US-Asia Technology Management Center (since 1994) and the Center for Integrated Systems (since 1998).   Also active as a private consultant, he regularly advises start-up companies, large firms, regional and national governments, and universities in the US and Asia-Pacific manufacturing.

The Hayden Group: Synergos Series

The Hayden Group sponsors the Synergos Series. The Synergos Series offers interesting guests, interesting speakers, business networking and food and wine  – all in an intimate setting.

"Synergos" [syn er GOS-hard "G"] is the Greek root for synergy, and means "working together."

WHAT: Great people. Great conversation. Wine.  Appetizers. Feel free to bring your favorite treats and brew to share.

WHEN: The last Thursday of every month. Drop by any time between 6 - 8PM. More details on the evening below the On Deck section.

WHERE: PALO ALTO:Please RSVP to Victoria Hayden at victoria@thehaydengroup.com so we can ensure adequate seating. Only 25 seats available.

SYNERGOS SPEAKERS ON DECK:

• In September our topic is Technology in Education. Lenny Greenberg of Assistyx, who makes  the Tap to Talk device that allows autistic children to communicate, will be one of our speakers. Stay tuned for more!

• In October we will take a new look at Philanthropy....Stay tuned

• In November we feature Clark Kepler of Kepler's Books, talking about Big Brands vs. Little Brands – the challenges faced by local and independent businesses in this age of big box and online retail sales, and an initiative to bring folks back to buying locally.

Feel free to forward this invitation to friends and colleagues who you think would enjoy the Synergos Series.

HOW DOES THE EVENING GO?

We also feature MonaVie, a delicious and energizing drink blend of the Brazilian Acai berry and other body-beneficial fruits from around the world. Feel free to bring your favorite appetizers and drink to share.

Our friend and colleague, photographer Mark Tuschman, has been recognized as the winner of the Global Health Council’s 2009 Photography Contest.  “You have topped the field, in this particularly competitive year, which saw a number of professional photographers and more than 550 entries from every corner of the world. The jury found the lighting of your subjects  particularly compelling in the way it brings out colors and nuances, and were struck by the composition. You are impressively talented," said
Annmarie Christensen, Global Health Council’s  Director of Publications/New Media and Executive Editor of Global Health Magazine.  Mark will be exhibiting the award-winning images and other relevant photographs from his recent project Capital of Hope, at the annual international conference on Global Health. The conference will be held May 26-30 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC, and globalhealth.org expects over 2,000 participants from around the globe.

The Hayden Group was honored to sponsor Betsy Burroughs' Future Catalyst Brainstorming Salon for more than a year. The Synergos Series, which debuted in September 2006, was a natural outgrowth of this wonderful event. Betsy Burroughs' FutureCatalyst Brainstorming Salon http://www.futurecatalyst.com/news/salons.html, the original, is still held the first Thursday of every month in San Francisco.
